The Illinois Public Health Association to use SMART Health Claims to alleviate financial pressure on local health departments.

IPHA

The Illinois Public Health Association has selected Upp Technology to be the preferred revenue cycle management partner for its members. Using the SMART Health Claims solution suite, Upp will work to increase revenue and optimize billing programs in local health departments throughout the entire state. IPHA members can now work with Upp to secure insurance contracts at special rates and find the billing solutions that are right for their community.

"This partnership will be yet another benefit to our health departments as members of IPHA," says Tom Hughes, IPHA Executive Director. "Teaming with Upp Technology will enable our members to alleviate some of the financial pressures that they’re facing today by focusing on the revenue side of the agency."

Over the past eight years, funding for public health has dropped by more than $1 billion per year. Staff and service cuts have become an all too sad norm. It’s more important than ever before for public health departments to be able to create their own sustainable revenue to continue to serve their communities. By contracting with insurance companies, local health departments are able to get reimbursed for existing services they provide to patients with insurance coverage. Partnering with Upp streamlines the insurance contracting process for local health departments, making it easier to create sustainable revenue.

Upp is thrilled to be working with the IPHA, who is the Illinois affiliate with the American Public Health Association. Partnering with our home state’s largest organization devoted to public health will enable us to continue our mission of improving the nation’s health.

"We’re really excited to be working with IPHA and believe that the partnership will help health departments become more sustainable," says Scott Upp, Upp Technology CEO. "The Affordable Care Act has created opportunities for health departments and opening up new revenue streams will enable health departments to continue to serve the public in the long run."

Upp Technology is committed to improving the financial health of public health and community health centers. We recently launched an initiative to add $100 million in new revenue through our revenue cycle management services to public health departments over the next three years.

A Partner Worth Considering

At Upp, we have a long history of supporting public health at the federal, State, and local level. Listen to what former Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, Dr. Craig Vanderwagen had to say about working with our team.
